15 August 08 - Charity event leaves RNLI in buoyant spirits
This year’s annual Lifeboatman’s Ball at The Waterfront Restaurant & Bar broke all records for attendance and funds raised for the heroic volunteers. Over 250 people attended the lavish black tie and posh frocks event, raising over £3000 in the process.
Organisations from across Plymouth including Plymouth Argyle Ladies Football Team, Fuel Communications, The National Marine Aquarium, ArtMill, Babcock, artist Karen Pawley, Southwest Coolers, artist Paul Acraman and Brittany Ferries, kindly donated prizes for the auction and raffle and attended the event.
A delighted Plymouth RNLI Coxswain Dave Milford said, “For us, this is a great opportunity to let the people of Plymouth know how we spend their valuable donations whilst having a great deal of fun at such a stunning location. I cannot thank Steve Bowen and his staff at The Waterfront enough, they are really good to us and we look forward to another event next year.”
“It was a real pleasure to see a significant number of people come together to celebrate the invaluable service that the RNLI provides to the city. It shows that their contribution is highly valued – and rightly so,” commented Steve Bowen, owner of The Waterfront.
