Builders are often given a bad name for the amount of time they spend drinking tea and coffee, but one group of construction workers in Plymouth has proved that a coffee break isn’t just an excuse to read a paper and have a bit of shut-eye.
Builders from KMS Contract Building Services in Plymouth took their coffee break for a good cause – to raise money for Macmillan as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, joining thousands of others around the UK to change the lives of people affected by cancer.
Managing Director of KMS (Contract Building Services) Ltd Kevin Smith said; “We have been working at The Mustard Tree Macmillan Centre in Plymouth adding an extension to improve the facilities they offer. Some of our construction workers have personal reasons to raise money for the centre, and many of the others felt strongly about helping after working there this year.”
Last year, more than 45,000 people held coffee mornings across the UK and together with their family, friends and colleagues, raised over £7.5 million for Macmillan. After making personal donations the workers at the site raised £150 for the charity.
