06 June 09 - Annual RNLI Ball to be Hosted by The Waterfront in Plymouth
Preparations are in full swing for the RNLI Lifeboatman’s Ball at The Waterfront Restaurant & Bar in Plymouth. Last year the annual event broke all records for attendance and funds raised for the lifeboat crew volunteers. Over 250 people attended the lavish black tie and posh frocks event, raising over £3000 in the process.
This year Steve Bowen, owner of The Waterfront Bar and Restaurant said;
“We are delighted to be asked to host this event once again, and to bring people together to celebrate the invaluable service that the RNLI provides to the city. Last year was such a success, and we are confident that this year’s will be even better.
We’ll be having a barbeque overlooking the water; we’ll be entertained by seven-piece band ‘Tru Steppaz’, followed by DJ Twinkle. Last year the money raised exceeded all our expectations, so of course, this year we are aiming even higher, and with raffle prizes from Plymouth Argyle, Albion, Brittany Ferries and Barclays Bank, I’m positive we can make it happen.”
Dave Milford, RNLI Coxswain of the Plymouth lifeboat, said:, “For us, this is a great opportunity to let the people of Plymouth know how we as a charity spend their valuable donations to help save lives at sea, whilst having a great deal of fun at such a stunning location. I cannot thank Steve Bowen and his staff at The Waterfront enough for hosting this event again, they always do us proud.”
